One of the things I have accepted somewhere along the way is what I feel is the truth about truth. People are often looking for some elusive truth or some hidden secret and the truth that I've found is that is all part of the illusion. I feel that many times what we are seeking is validation or invalidation of others beliefs and the only way to find any real truth is as much about faith as it is some provable facts. A great quote that I like to refer to about this is by Marcus Aurelius who said, "Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth." I'll share my thoughts on this below and hopefully help some others realize that there is always more than one side to the "truth."
I actually went so far as to write a post about known and unknown and how they collectively equal the whole truth. The thing is that I don't feel like there is every really an objectionable way to convey the truth with all certainty. The more willing we are to listen to others and try to see from their perspective the less truth seems to matter. Black and white thinking is the illusion that one of us is right and the other is wrong, but that isn't always the case and it isn't a very fair way to look at things. The problem I find is that most people take opinions and perspective as fact and are quick to condemn others or their actions based on partial truths.
Along the path we all walk through life, some of us get to a point where we realize this fact: We can never know everything and what we don't know is equally important. It's about removing victim mentality and judgment from our thought processes. I don't want to blame anyone for anything that I feel, because the only thing I can be certain of is what I know I feel. If I give the power of what I'm feeling away by casting blame or judgment then I am no longer responsible for myself or my own feelings. It's kind of asinine to blame someone else for my feelings about something when the truth is that I am allowing it or not allowing it. I don't blame someone for making me love them, that's a choice I made and I gave my love freely. I don't blame someone for hurting me when I know to remove myself from situations that I don't agree with. I feel that the only real truth is that we are all responsible for ourselves. Namaste.
