In the middle of the Caribbean Festival, which was held from July 3rd to 9th, I had the opportunity to attend several poetry readings. For some of these readings I was invited in advance, others took me by surprise. One of the activities that had both surprise and anticipation, was the poetry reading hand in hand with Yoel Cipriano.
The invitation for this activity came to me already the festival started, and I was still very undecided about whether to accept or not, since I had a lot of things pending. I finally decided and now I'm glad I did.
The activity took place at the Josué País House of Culture, a place that is a cultural focus for the creation and artistic promotion of children and young people. Next to me, as is becoming customary, was Yoel Cipriano (@yoecipri), to have a "hand to hand" reading.
The spectators were not many, however they supported each of our interventions. Both Cipriano and I shared texts that we had written a few years ago, and we also had space to share new texts.
For a moment, the coordinator who invited us, Abraam, interviewed us both. In a pleasant talk, deep but correct questions such as "What is creation?" and "Why create? Can you live without that?"it resonated with everyone present. Luckily, my friend and I gave our most sincere answers.
Finally, Cipriano and I read a text that we wrote together. It is a kind of oath that at the same time is an order, a commitment to continue growing and taking care of all the good that we have as human beings.
All these promotional activities, when they reach a small audience and also do not receive a salary for it, could be exhausting for some. I think it is necessary, that every moment should be taken advantage of and that is why I am grateful every time I can participate in events like this. There may not be many people listening, but they will always be the ones indicated, and we will have moved someone at the end of the day.
That's all for today. The photos used were taken with my phone, an Oukitel C31.
Until next time!
