While here on Hive, the first day of each month is fortunately celebrated as HPUD, I do not celebrate my MD, Mortgage Day. In fact, as punctual as a Swiss clock, the monthly payments that will be possible for another 19 years or so are withdrawn from my current account. My luck was to take out the mortgage when the rates were still very low and having opted for a fixed rate, I was not affected by the huge increases in the cost of money, which have instead tormented those who have chosen a variable rate.
Personally at the time I chose the fixed rate, well aware of the post-2008 crisis situation, when rates also rose rapidly there and some of my acquaintances were in big trouble for several months. Unlike about 20 euros more per month, however, I preferred to be able to sleep more peacefully because sooner or later all phenomena are cyclical and since my mortgage is decades-long I expected that something might not go right. I was foresighted and that helped me.
Mortgage Day is an event that affects a large part of all of us, unfortunately, but on the other hand it is a necessary expense, in my opinion, to guarantee, or at least try, to have not only a house of your own but also at least physical stability. I am not a fan of moving over several years and the rent, added up over the years, has a significantly higher cost.
Happy Mortgage Day to all those who, on a predetermined day of the month, will be touched by this event. We will make it!
