The Laterite sand, My Entry For @phortun round 208

Hello fellow Hivians! It has been fun participating in various contests here on the blockchain. I hope you have been having the fun of your life - trying your brain and intellect out in the various contests. This is my entry for this week's @nature contest.

The @nature contest triggers us to go hunting for various features of nature. In my entry for this week, I will be telling you about one natural resource which is very common in our locality.

The image in my post is that of a rock. This rock is called laterite. The laterite type of rock is not very strong like the types of granite rock. They are easily sourced by locals who use it in place of granite for building. Laterite can occur in very large layers which could cover large expanses of land. In most cases, they appear in numerous medium sizes in the area were it occurs.

In terms of structural strength, laterite is not very strong but due to economic harshness, people choose to go for laterite instead of granite.

Laterite sand is mixed with cement to build houses. It is used in making building foundations and for flooring the ground.

Laterite sand usually whither over a long time. In most cases, houses constructed using laterite could collapse if exposed to intense heat of the sun.
