Fig Tree Bay

We moved to the other side of the island, and one of the first things I noticed was that there was an emphasis on recycling.

This made me very happy. On thing I also noticed was that the streets were free of rubble and it's not common to see any litter.

These recycle bins can be seen everywhere

That being said it was a big disappointment some months later to see that the recycling bins were not being emptied. Something to do with a counsel strike - and on phoning to complain was told that they were "changing companies" who would collect the garbage - but as of yet they had no new contenders for the contract.

This morning the recycle bins had been emptied, but the others were not

However we cannot complain about the beautiful clean water and I went for a swim. We walked a completely different route today and came to a beach called Fig Tree Bay.
We discovered these steps going into the water from the promenade. Such a treat if you just want to swim without going on the sand.

Later we had time to stop in for a drink - I actually had a small beer. Eden had a mango and pineapple smoothy and Lee had a sparkling water, which we noticed was more expensive than the beer.

Enjoying a small beer

This is the first time I've ordered a beer on my own. Normally I would have a half a glass at a barbecue with the family. My kids were surprised haha***

Later we went home and made some chicken breasts with vegetables, carrots, butternut, yellow peppers and cauliflower.

Looks like I've really got sidetracked here - the theme was recycling and I love the idea. I used to recycle paper when I was working in an office. Now I try to separate the plastic bottles from my normal waste. Perhaps I will get better with time, because I really love the clean area and the sea has been amazing. Hope you'll forgive me for my ramblings and not remaining on subject.
