Hi All,

Last year, I went on a journey around India with my father, my brother and my uncle. I'd never been to Asia before and it was a phenomenal trip upon which I encountered many once in a lifetime experiences. I'm delighted to be able to share many of those experiences with you through this series of blog posts!

Day 1:

We flew from Heathrow to New Delhi, arriving in India in the early evening. Taking a taxi from the airport to our hotel, the first thing that I noticed was just how hot it was! It wasn't just straight heat either, like you get in Spain or Cyprus, but it was really sticky humidity! I remember mentally thanking myself for packing several pairs of shorts!

Our hotel was about an hours drive from the airport and it was very late by the time we arrived. It was a relatively small and compact hotel, built over five different floors. We checked in and were escorted to our rooms. My room was small, but not untidy, with a large bed dominating the majority of it and a small television squeezed into one corner. In the opposite corner was a door that led through to a tiny room in which they had just about managed to fit a toilet and a shower. However, despite the size of the room, it was relatively cosy and, crucially, it had a decent air conditioning unit!

Whether it be down to tiredness from the flight or the comforting breeze that the A/C unit gave off, I slept very well that first night. It was only when I woke up the next morning that it suddenly hit me. I was in a foreign country, unlike none I'd ever experience before, over 4,000 miles from home...!

Day 2 will be published tomorrow! As always, please let me know what you think and give me a shout if you have any questions or suggestions!
