Overwho?
I finally had a little bit of time this weekend so I decided to finish my placement matches. For those of you that don't know, there is a ranking system in Overwatch Competitive Play that puts you in categories according to your performance. The categories are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster and Top 500. Platinum is a generally good place to be, it is right in the middle of the attainable tiers (Top 500 being the god tiers and all).
In hindsight I chose the worst possible time to play my placement matches, this weekend was a free weekend and it marked seven days before the end of the season. A free weekend meaning that the game was free to play for the weekend, whereas it is usually a game you have to pay for. The fact that it was free meant that there was a lot of new guys playing and for some reason they decided that their first time ever on Overwatch would be a good way to ruin my day and play ranked. For some reason the Overwatch gods saw it fit that I should get all the new players on my team and that I should get a horrible ranking.
This eventually led to me winning only three out of my ten placement matches which dropped me down to Gold this season. Oh well, at least the season is only for another seven days and then it resets. Then the grind starts all over again.
Here are some of my POTG's (Play of The Game) from this weekend. Some of them really turned the fight around and helped us secure the point. Others were just random luck of being at the right place at the right time.
