"Your mother already told you to divorce me and get married to another woman, I think you should." Tomi sobs on Sola, her husband's shoulder.

They have been married for five years with no kids, and according to the doctors, Tomi was the one with the issues.

"I'll never do that, babe, I promise," Sola reassures her, drawing her tighter to him.

"What's the guarantee though? You are an African man through and through."

"As long as the lord liveth, I'll never betray you, I swear with my life."

She looked into his eyes and knew he was telling the truth, he had never for once blamed her on the issue of childbearing. He always defended her whenever his family members or friends tried to talk down on her. Being childless is a really big deal in Africa, and women without are often disrespected.

Whenever she was having a bad day or feeling down, all she needed to do was come home to him and get the needed comfort.

He was her safe place and he always had her back wherever and whenever.

She looked into his eyes again and smiled, "I love you, babe."

"I know, but not as much as I did, still do, and will always do." He kissed the bridge of her nose and forehead as an affirmation of his declaration.

They sat down entwined on the couch for a long time after. It was all Tomi ever needed.
