Good evening, friends of this wonderful community at @catarsis. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Sometimes everyday life isn't easy, and I confess that these days I've been feeling a strange mix of emotions. Here, where I am, I lack nothing. You could say that I have more than I ever imagined, and my life here is totally different from what it was in Venezuela.
These days I've been feeling a lot of nostalgia, sadness, and even pain, but not the physical pain that can be cured with pills or cream, but rather that pain that is latent in the soul and that I don't know if I can explain in words. I have missed my father so much, but when I go out on the street and see so many roses, it seems to me that he is there, and with every movement and scent of those flowers, he looks at me and smiles. Many will wonder, "How so?"
My dad and I had a very strong connection. I knew his every preference, when he was sad or upset about something.
He loved flowers, and whenever I could, I would give him calla lilies, ixoras, and roses.
Today, 19 years since he physically left us, the ixoras are still there, and every time they bloom, I see his love reflected in each flower.
Here, the roses are very large and come in many colours. Every time I go out, I take photos of every rose I see. When my husband @manros11 and I arrived at a hardware store where we went to buy some things for a bathroom that my daughter is building, the first thing I saw was the flowers in the hardware store car park, and my first impulse was to go and take some photos, but I preferred to go inside, and when the gentleman was attending to my husband, I asked if I could go and take photos of the roses, and the lady said, "Go ahead." I took my time admiring such beauty and remembering the man I loved so much and will love all my life, my father. I finished taking my photos and went back inside.
The gentleman and lady asked me, "Do you like roses?" I replied that they reminded me of my father. The gentleman finished attending to my husband, grabbed a pair of scissors and said, "Come with me, I'm going to give you some roses." My heart leapt with excitement and my eyes filled with tears. The gentleman cut one of each colour and when he reached the only calla lily bush there was, he asked me, "Do you like calla lilies?" I said yes, they were my dad's favourite too. He told me that his dad also grew roses. When we went inside, the lady smiled mischievously at me, and I felt that their gesture was a manifestation of my father's love through them. It's funny that in a country that is not my own, I have received so many gestures of affection.
So today, after several days of being sad about things that one cannot change, I received a gesture of affection from people who, without knowing it, made my day and made it a different day.
Sometimes God sends angels who show us, through small details, that despite the grey days, there will always be light in the midst of darkness.
That's all for today's post. Thank you for visiting and for your support. Photos taken with my Motorola G30 mobile phone. I used Deepl Translator.
