Keeping promises to children shows how sincere we are and faithful before the presence of God. God is always faithful to His promises, and parents and guardians are encouraged to reflect that same character in their words and actions. When adults keep their promises, they build trust, teach integrity, and help children understand the value of truthfulness.
Proverbs 20:7 says, "The righteous who walks in his integrity blessed are his children after him."
When making promises we should only make promises that we can fulfill. Breaking promises without a good reason can discourage children and weaken their confidence in those who care for them. The Bible teaches believers to let their "Yes" be yes and their "No" be no, encouraging sincerity and dependability in every commitment.
