I no longer ask people ‘How are you?’ I ask them ‘How are you protecting your mental health today?’
The reality is that humanity is suffering; if it is not illnesses ravaging the people, it is people who are being wicked to other people.
In my country, the rate of insecurity and poverty has sky rocketed. In India, the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is taking the lives of individuals. The immediacy of the distribution of news has made it possible for one to know what is happening in another part of the world at almost the same time.
The internet is a scary place to be in. Digesting negative every blessed day is not good for you and me. CUT IT OFF. Yeah, that’s what I’ll push for. Switching off from the internet is necessary for one to protect his/her mental health.
I was forced to go off for four days. I was cranky and pissed that I couldn’t get reception. Once I did, I was devastated to hear of the news of a young lady who was killed while looking for a job. I immediately felt my positive vibration drop several notches.
Going offline might be the key to retain sanity but FOMO won’t let man be great. 😞
Note that being in a bubble might be what actually keeps you safe.
