Hello everyone your welcome to my blog today ❤️
Mental health is a part of the human body that tends to be neglected most of the time. I think it's nowadays that we hear of people on social media, doctors and psychologists preaching about prioritising one's mental health. Before now, it was mainly about physical body health and a lot suffered from mental issues unknown.
Mental health has become, or is becoming, a constant concern for everyone, whether it's the people who need to take care of themselves, employers, healthcare organizations, or even government campaigns. It's common to come across awareness campaigns focused on this issue, aiming to reduce the problems associated with it. But when we talk about mental health, should we really be considering dedicated days off specifically for mental health care.
To be honest, don't we already have regular time off that serves exactly that purpose, whether it's for our mental or physical well-being? I believe work schedules are already designed, at least in part, to prevent burnout. Creating additional leave specifically for "mental health care" might simply be a waste of time. I don't say that because I'm siding with employers or turning against working people. I say it because I think we need to be honest and admit that such a benefit could easily become something exploited by people who simply don't want to work.
And it's really sad that most people keep working even when they feel mentally drained, regardless of the struggles they pull through, and that's why mistakes and reduced productivity happen in our workplace more often than expected. A person could be physically healthy, but mentally unstable and a day off work like mental health days will help employees recover and relax, before issues escalate into more serious and dangerous mental challenges.
Our understanding of health should evolve, we should look and consider the well being of employees beyond the physical appearance, but also their mental well being . The effects of mental health can cause more harm. It's also an occupational hazard because it's destructive to be mentally ill. Our workplaces should offer a dedicated mental health day, apart from the traditional sick day leave.
One of the biggest mistakes many of us make is neglecting our health while we are young. We take unnecessary risks, consume things that harm our bodies, sacrifice sleep for things that could easily wait until another day, and ignore the warning signs. The damage may not be obvious immediately, but as we grow older, the consequences begin to show.
Physical or mental health, our health as a whole, should never be taken for granted because we are nothing without it. We must take care of it because, without good health, we are limited. Wealth means very little if you don’t have the health to enjoy or maintain it.
