This is the most favorite psalm for many people including me. It is from Psalm 23 in the Bible.

This psalm has comforted me and strengthened me so many times when I was in sorrow, bereavement, and heartache.

Do you know who wrote this psalm and under what circumstance?

It was written by David when he was taking a break from a battle when his very own son Absalom was rebelling against him with an armed force. It was written during one of the darkest hours of David's life. Yet, the Lord moved David's heart to write this most beautiful, comforting, and immortal psalm of all. We can see David has totally surrendered himself to the Lord from this psalm.

Let us read it together.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
