Hey Horror fans
I won't lie about it, I'm a big DC fan and anytime they hash out a show based on the comics I'm going to give it a go. This time, however, they've taken one of the more obscure characters and stuck with its origins as a horror story, which is a nice change of pace from the superhero fatigue we're currently experiencing.
The Swamp Thing is a fictional superhero in comic books published by American company DC Comics. A humanoid/plant elemental creature so you can only imagine what kind of Erie tone it sets for itself with James Wan (Saw and Conjuring series) at the helm.

While looking into an epidemic in her Louisiana hometown, CDC investigator Abby Arcane discovers that the local swamps hold numerous secrets after her partner seemingly dies and transforms into Swamp Thing we see a bigger conspiracy unfold.

The DC Universe kicks off another collection to its universe with Swamp Thing as they continue to expand with their new streaming service and world-building.
Titans was an unexpected surprise for not only DC fans but general tv show viewers. Then the following with the Doom Patrol which I had mixed feelings about but still enjoyed. I will say this it is by far one of the best over the top different and unique distinct crafts of television I've ever seen.
Then now, Swamp Thing. DC is changing the game, starting from shows of action and drama, to comedy and SyFi, and then here enters Swamp Thing, horror and thriller. The tone, pace and set of the story is creepy, eerie and oh so fun to watch, not just for horror or DC fans.
Producer James Wan, the cast, the crew, makeup artists, editing, music, and the acting, everything on the first episode is amazing. Also, the first episode shapes to become the origin of the entire show.
The script was great, very solid drama going on between characters in the small town in Louisiana. A lot goes on without dwelling too far away from what's important and to what we want to see. Thrills. And you get a lot of them.
From people dying, to intriguing tense moments leading its buildup to climatic horror, to autopsy's gone wrong, to exploring the depths of the swamp. The show doesn't try to do too much and sticks to solid pacing with some cool action and not too shabby CGI with some pretty creative death scenes.
The show is dark, gritty and at times gory but it doesn't take away from the narrative and the storyline. It does feel like it can drag at certain points but it's all there for good measure, balancing substance with style
I really enjoyed the series and I'm gutted that it's been cancelled after only one season. I have to give it a 7 CDC investigators out of 10
