I am part of the Zambales-Bataan Cluster of Internal Auditors, which means I also have the responsibility to conduct backup duty at stores with auditors. Since 3 internal auditors resigned recently, our team has had to adjust how we work. I needed to step up and volunteer for backup duty as well, and it's going well.

Today, I was tasked with conducting a compliance audit at one of the stores in Bataan, which is in a different province. It takes me about 2 and a half hours to get there. I got to the bus terminal just in time and rode one of them to my destination.

After almost two hours of travel, the bus operator told me I was already at Puregold Hermosa. I still needed to walk a few steps to get inside the store and the office. I had all my guides and printed reports with me as I walked. Then I saw the store signage and entrance, but I still needed to find the employee entrance and exit since we are not allowed to use the store entrance.

Once inside the office, the human resources supervisor introduced me to the store. Since I would be handling and auditing this store, I needed to become familiar with employees from different departments.

Then, I started auditing store expenses and cash movements. When I sat down at the audit department, I was welcomed with a request for petty cash reports, and I needed to work on them.

The shift went by smoothly, and even though I would be traveling home for another 2 hours, I still had an 8-hour shift during my backup duty. It was a fun yet challenging duty, especially for me, since I'm not too familiar with the store operations yet.
