My blog entries are going to be a bit random, was I'm going to write things as I think of them. My SimCity Buildit Club, "Exodus No W-A-R," was in an accidental war this week, so it is very fresh on my mind.
First, a bit about Clubs. Once you get to level 18, you can join or start a club. Clubs give you a great way to learn about the game, trade commodities, and if you desire, fight wars. Clubs have a President, VPs, Senior Members, and Members. The main contest the clubs play is called "Contest of Mayors," which is very competitive and puts out good prizes (two topics for future blogs: CoM and prizes). A club is limited to 25 members at one time; some clubs require you to sign out (leave) when you're inactive so that more people can participate.
Only an officer of the club can start a war. This past week, one of our officers accidentally started a war.
The way the war works is that each team inflicts disasters upon the cities of the opposing team. The game pairs up two clubs when two clubs want a war. If you played the old SimCity, you're already familiar with some of the disasters, but Buildit has a bunch more. You have to have war items (which you can trade within your Club) in order to activate disasters. Each disaster takes energy, which depletes quickly and rebuilds one unit every half hour. If your city has a residence damaged by the opponent, you can't attack.
The war lasts a couple of days, and nobody can join or leave the Club during the war. If you knock out all of the cities of the opposing team and they don't fix their cities fast enough, the war can end more quickly.
Our club was not ready to fight as (1) the war was accidentally tripped and (2) our members don't want to do the war thing, so we got beaten soundly. The good news is that when the war is (finally!) over, all of your damaged residences are magically repaired. However, if you repair them during the event, you receive more war items, which of course means that you can inflict more disasters on your opponent.
For peaceniks like us, though, the war items have some value, as some of the Contest of Mayors (CoM) assignments include launching disasters upon a monster that appears periodically. We'll talk about that more in a future blog about CoM.
