El día de ayer recibí dos invitaciones para un reto, propuesto por @eugelys. Fui nominada por @syllem y @mafalda2018, a quienes les estoy profundamente agradecida, dado el significado que este reto tiene para las mujeres.

Yesterday he received two invitations for a challenge, proposed by @eugelys. I was nominated by @syllem and @ mafalda2018, to whom I am deeply grateful, given the meaning that this challenge has for women.

Sonoridad y empoderamiento, dos palabras relativamente nuevas que muestran una manera de estar en el mundo y a la cual me apego en su totalidad.

Sonority and empowerment, two relatively new words that seem like a way of being in the world and to which I fully attach myself.

Desde muy joven asumí el hecho de ser mujer con orgullo y podría decirse que un halo de superioridad se instaló muy pronto, al no entender la diatriba de la lucha de la mujer contra el hombre, tal como la veía, hasta en programas de concursos. Entiendo que la mujer desde tiempos antiguos ha sido maltratada y subordinada a la tiranía masculina, esto ha ido cambiando paulatinamente, aunque en algunas regiones, por razones culturales, aún se ve a la mujer como un ser inferior.

Muchas madres en nuestros países educan de manera diferente al varón, originando el machismo desde el mismo hogar. No ha sido mi caso. Asumo también que se nos otorgó el regalo de tener por nueve meses a otro ser dentro de nosotras y eso nos brinda una distinción especial, algo con lo cual estoy muy feliz: ser madre ha sido para mí uno de mis mayores privilegios.

No somos iguales que el hombre y aunque podemos tratar de hacer lo que ellos por naturaleza hacen y lograrlo, seguimos siendo distintas. Ese es mi punto de vista. Soy de las mujeres que le gusta la galantería masculina, que me abran la puerta del vehículo, o me den el asiento en un autobús y me ayuden con la carga pesada. Respeto al hombre como el complemento que nos permite perpetuar la especie humana. Me gusta la vida en pareja.

From a very young age I assumed the fact of being a woman with pride and it could be said that a halo of superiority was installed very soon, not understanding the tirade of the fight of women against men, such as the measure, even in contest programs. I understand that since ancient times women have been mistreated and subordinated to male tyranny, this has been gradually changing, although in some regions, for cultural reasons, women are still seen as an inferior being.

Many mothers in our countries educate men differently, originating machismo from the same home. It was not my case. I assume we were also given the gift of having another being within us for nine months and that gives us a special distinction, something with which I am very happy: being a mother has been for me one of my greatest privileges.

We are not the same as man and although we can try to do what they by nature do and achieve it, we are still different. That's my point of view. I am one of the women who likes male gallantry, to open the door of the vehicle, or give me a seat on a bus and help me with the heavy load. I respect man as the complement that allows us to perpetuate the human species. I like life as a couple.

¿Qué me empodera?

Tengo una convicción grande de la existencia de un Dios que me ha creado y cada día vivo bajo su voluntad y acato sus designios con la seguridad de que es lo mejor que tiene para mí. He sido afortunada, nací, fui atendida en mi niñez, tuve padres, abuelos, tíos, que cuidaron de mí, a los cuales guardo profundo respeto. Honro padre y madre. Esa certeza de que vine al mundo y fui protegida me hace sentirme bien.

Me gusta lo que soy, lo que hice, lo que tengo y lo que cada día hago para hacer cumplir mis anhelos. Me considero una mujer que ha roto paradigmas y ha enfrentado situaciones atípicas por tener la fortaleza en sus propias creencias y toma de decisiones. Nadie podrá decir nunca que dejé de hacer algo porque me faltó coraje o no quise exponerme a las habladurías de la sociedad. Soy yo y la opinión que tengo de mí, me gusta.

What empowers me?

I have a great conviction of the existence of a God who has created me and every day I live under his will and abide by his designs with the assurance that he is the best he has for me. I have been fortunate, I was born, I was cared for in my childhood, I had parents, grandparents, uncles, who took care of me, to whom I have deep respect. I honor father and mother. That certainty that I came into the world and was protected makes me feel good.

I like what I am, what I did, what I have and what I do every day to make my wishes come true. I consider myself a woman who has broken paradigms and faced atypical situations for having strength in her own beliefs and decision-making. No one can ever say that I stopped doing something because I lacked the courage or I did not want to expose myself to the gossip of society. It's me and the opinion I have of me, I like it.

Me empodera mi familia. Cuatro hijos, dos varones y dos hembras y siete nietos, que constituyen mi fuerza, mi motor permanente, cada una de sus alegrías es también la mía. Aunque ahora no estoy viviendo a su lado, sé de ellos todos los días y estoy al tanto de sus emprendimientos diarios.

My family empowers me. Four children, two boys and two girls and seven grandchildren, who constitute my strength, my permanent motor, each of their joys is also mine. Although I am not living next to them now, I know about them every day and I am aware of their daily ventures.

Me empoderan mis logros, los académicos y artísticos, pero también los de mis hijos y nietos. Sus logros, que son muchos, son mi valuarte, y mi fe en la familia.

I am empowered by my achievements, academic and artistic, but also those of my children and grandchildren. His achievements, which are many, are my value, and my faith in the family.

Me empodera el arte, la capacidad de crear una obra en óleo, creyón o acuarela, me llena de estímulo y alegría, es la posibilidad de dejar algo tangible para el futuro incluyendo el ejemplo para los que me siguen.

Art empowers me, the ability to create a work in oil, crayon or watercolor, fills me with encouragement and joy, it is the possibility of leaving something tangible for the future, including the example for those who follow me.

Pero por sobre todas las cosas me empodera el amor. Creo en la bondad y en que al final el bien siempre triunfa sobre el mal. El amor es la brújula presente en mi vida en todo momento, es el que me saca las sonrisas diarias, y me hace tener fe en que la vida es bella y todo puede cambiar de un momento a otro. El amor familiar, de pareja, de amigos, el amor al prójimo, es la utopía y la búsqueda constante.

But above all things love empowers me. I believe in goodness and that in the end he always triumphs over evil. Love is the compass present in my life at all times, it is the one that brings out my daily smiles, and makes me have faith that life is beautiful and everything can change from one moment to another. Family love, love for couples, friends, love of neighbor, is utopia and constant search.
