Hi, this is my entry for the new POB photocontest initiated by friendlymoose@friendlymoose, all details on his post below:

The theme being fruits, I wanted to propose a photo of a tropical fruit probably little known, the "Star Apple".

It is a fruit that I discovered in Tahiti, it grows in big trees and you can buy it on the roadside everywhere. Its Tahitian name is " 'āpara feti'a ".

It is often called milk apple because its juice is milky white, but you can't see it on the picture, on the other hand you can clearly see where its name comes from" star".

It is accompanied by one of these small tropical bananas very tasty on the photo, it was the base of my breakfasts during my stay.

This fruit has medicinal virtues, I give the translation of these that I copied from the site:
https://www.tahitiheritage.pf/pomme-etoile/

"The star apple contains a great wealth of vitamins, A and C and those of the B group, calcium and iron, carbohydrates, lipids and proteins as well as polyphenol. The consumption of this fruit, calms the intestinal disorders. The infusion of the leaves is used to fight diabetes and rheumatic pains. The decoction of bark is given in drink and in mouthwash to calm the cough. The latex is used as a poultice to treat abscesses, and dried as a powder is a powerful vermifuge.

The Star Apple is also used in cosmetics to make perfumes and creams to fight against skin aging."
