The locality rests on rolling and hilly areas and is bounded by Barangay Kisante and Biangan in the North, Barangay New Bulatukan in the West, Barangay Old Bulatukan in the South and Mt. Apo Nature Park in the East.
The original inhabitants of the place were Bagobos, headed by their leader, the late Datu Kayawon Padayag. The place is still full of beautiful sceneries: rivers with clear waters, abundant towering forest trees, naturally grown flowers, wild life, and a soothing cool climate. New Israel is virtually a perfect natural architecture which anyone cannot get bored at looking.

Things would sport a different shade when the late Maximino Guibernas, a migrant from Cebu, would arrive in the area in the 1950s, bringing along with him a nationalistic-patriotic quasi-religious organization named Moncado Alpha and Omega World Peace Crusaders Missionaries, Inc. Cultivating a harmonious relationship with the indigenous people, he practically carved the present-day New Israel from the wilderness, and established a 24-kilometer trail to the famed peak of Mt. Apo, a dormant volcano overlooking south-central Mindanao. Along the way, “Papa” Guibernas established various religious stations, including a settlement at Makalangit plains at an elevation 1,900 meters AMSL. The concrete cross at Mt. Zion is also considered a place of prayer for the New Israelenos.
New Israel’s rise to fame came by way of its religious rituals, its colonies upon colonies of tamed monkeys numbering by the hundreds, and its most scenic trail to the peak of Mt. Apo. While New Israel is a distinct political unit of the government, its leadership also operates based on quasi-religious organizational line.
The political leadership of New Israel rotated among the members of the organization. Among the responsible punong barangays who stood to meet the challeng of the times, were Mrs. Pacita Sayson, Ernesto Albaňez, Joaquin Calago, and the incumbent PB Lovely Guibernas-Paraiso who is nearing the culmination of her second three-term in office.
New Israel’s place in the pantheons of ecological tourism is assured by its scenic 24.5-km trail to the peak of Mt. Apo, which was been adventured by mountaineers from all over the country.
but now, New Israel is newly tourist spot in my hometown.Situated at the foot of Mt. Apo, Barangay New Israel in Makilala is now one of the top destinations in the province. The newly-opened 2.2-kilometer zipline attract local and foreign adventure seekers. To date, it is the longest zipline in Asia.
New Israel is also the home of the tamed Macaque monkeys, who has been living with community for more than five decades already.
