Greetings Foodies
This past weekend my 9-year-old nephew was staying at my house, and we decided to try baking a red velvet cake.
While at the supermarket we found a few cake mix options, my nephew decided this red velvet mix was the one he wanted to try.
It is pretty simple to make this cake we only need to add a few ingredients.
First, we mix 200ml milk with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Next, we need 3 eggs.
Now we add the eggs to the milk and oil.
Mix everything together.
Now we need to add the cake mix to our milk ,eggs and oil.
Start beating the mixture...
Until it looks nice and smooth like this...
Once the mix is nice and smooth it's time to add it to a cake tin.
In a 220c oven, it should take 25-30mins to bake. Once the cake looks baked on the top use a skewer to make sure the middle of the cake is cooked. In this picture, the middle of the cake isn't ready so it had to go back in the oven for an extra 5-10 mins.
Once the cake is baked it's time to add this cream cheese-style icing.
I let my nephew do this step, its the part he was most looking forward to.
I think he made a pretty good job with the icing.
Overall I think this was a pretty good first attempt at baking a nice red velvet cake.
