A man called John went for a haircut at a barbershop he always frequent. He was welcomed by Dan and was seated in his usual barber chair. After a while, they started to have a conversation but when it reached the topic about religion, it became a bit heated.

"I don't believe in God", said the barber Dan. John didn't expect to hear something like that coming from Dan, "Why are you saying that", asked John.

"Look out the window, and believe me that God doesn't exist. If he truly does exist, why are there so many people suffering from illness? Why are there so many abandoned children in the streets? If God does exist, He won't have allowed all these people to suffer and live a miserable life. What kind of a God that doesn't do a thing to end all of these sufferings?", asked Dan with a stern tone. John just listened to what Dan has to say, he couldn't answer the question and even if he could, he won't, as the conversation became a little bit heated up.

Dan eventually finished grooming John's hair, after paying the bill, John said goodbye and then walked out of the shop. Outside of the barbershop's door, sat a bearded homeless man with long hair. It suddenly hit John, he has found the answer to Dan's question about the existence of God.

John went back inside to see Dan and said, "I don't think there is such person as a barber, they do not exist". "What are you talking about, don't you know that I am a barber, am I not standing in front of you?", asked Dan. "No, I still don't believe that a barber is real, if they do exist, there won't be any man with long hair outside your shop and in the streets", said John.

"What are you mumbling about, there are so many barbers out there, it's just that these people didn't come to them to be groomed!", Dan is getting annoyed and smiling sarcastically.

"Now that is exactly what I wanted to hear from you, and surely that is also the exact answer to your question about the existence of God", said John. "God does exist, but not many people came to Him and pray to end the sufferings that they are facing and what the whole world is facing", said John.

Hearing what John had to say, Dan kept quiet and felt ashamed. John bid farewell and then he walked out of the shop.

The moral of the story

From the story above, we can conclude that we are actually the one who has forgotten about God but He never forgets us. Only in the time of suffering and pain that we will remember Him and will pray and ask for His help and forgiveness. Think about it, how many times in a day that we give our time to God, praising Him and thanking Him for all that he has given to us? How many hours we dedicated in a day with other people, praising them and even idolising celebrities?
