The Great Wall of China
One of the seven wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China was a brainchild of Emperor Qin Shi Huang to defend China from northern tribes’ attack. Stretching some 20,000 kilometres, the wall has been refurbished and repaired all the time.
It too a Herculean effort to contruct the Great Wall. Countless Chinese labourers were said to have died of the hectic labour work. The construction over thousands of years ago was without safety measures. Some labourers fell to their death, some killed by huge bricks falling from the mountain and some sacrificed after long hours of hard work.
Without proper ceremonies and rituals, the remains of the deceased were buried under the Great Wall, which is thus the notoriety of “the graveyard of the innocent victims: Some tourist even claimed they heard weird sounds of laborious work taking place when they walked on the Great Wall.
Payang Lake
It is said to be a Chinese version of Bermuda Triangle. The story was that 2,000 years ago, a fireball dropped from the sky above Poyang Lake and caused a great blast in Laoye Miao (Temple of the Old Fellow) area. In the aftermath of the event, any ship passing by the area would be disappeared mysteriously. In 16 April 1945, Japanese ship Kobe Shi Wen missing when passing by Laoye Miao. Deemed as a haunted place, nobody dare to search for the lost ships around that area. From 1960 to 1980, as many as over 200 ships were said to have gone missing. Another rumour was that on 3rd August 1984, a fleet of 13 ships disappeared together. No debris, no trace, no evidence – these ship just disappeared.
