¡Holiii, amigos de la comunidad de Hivearte! Espero que estén teniendo un día con muchos brillitos.

Entonces, hace unos días decidí hacer un dibujo de flores, pero no son cualquier flores y no son cualquier dibujo. Este es un dibujo que hice como regalo a la mamá de mi novio y son las flores que más le gustan. Creo que no tener dinero no significa que no pueda regalar algo, y más cuando uno dibuja, creo que tiene en sus manos todas las posibilidades de crear lo que quiera.

Así que, por ahora, acompáñenme en mi no-tan-ordenado proceso para dibujar un modesto arreglo floral. ¡Vamos allá!

Para empezar con este dibujo, tracé dos círculos y un óvalo en el centro. Estas formas sirvieron para delimitar el área de las flores. Añadí un pequeño círculo en el centro del círculo de arriba, para guiarme de donde estaría el centro de la flor.

Luego, tracé el bosquejo de la forma general de cada flor.

En la izquierda, va un lirio, por lo cual hice líneas curvas para guiar la forma de los pétalos en ese ángulo.

En el centro, la flor es un (tuve que buscar el nombre) riqui-riqui, aunque la mamá de mi novio me dijo que era un ave del paraíso, y en algunos sitios la nombraban como tal, pero también le dicen platanillo, ¿cómo la conocen ustedes?. En fin, en cuanto a esta flor del medio, bosquejé sus brácteas (que así es como se llaman esas pinzas), trazando una forma similar a la de los dientes de ajo, pero con un final mucho más puntiagudo. Otro dato interesante de estas flores es que las flores no son las brácteas, sino que están resguardas dentro de estas y son mucho más pequeñas.

Por último, hice formas redondeadas para intentar descifrar la estructura de la orquídea, intenté simplificar todo lo general, siguiendo el consejo que siempre nos dan a todos los dibujantes, creo que lo logré.

Luego, procedí a hacer un delineado para hacer más clara la forma de las flores. En el lirio añadí el estambre del centro y las curvas naturales de los pétalos, teniendo muy en cuenta el ángulo de estos. También añadí los tallos con líneas ligeramente curvadas, y la hoja con una línea muy curvada.

A la flor del medio no hubo que hacerle gran cosa, solo añadí el tallo y una hoja detrás, esta vez usando trazos más rectos.

La orquídea sí fue un desafío, pues considero que es una flor bastante abstracta, aunque hermosa (¡es nuestra flor nacional, orgullosamente!). A ver, si tuviera que describir las formas diría que es como dos abanicos a los lados (llamados pétalos), un diente de ajo en el centro y dos dientes de ajo en la parte inferior (llamados sépalo dorsal y sépalos). La parte del centro, fue más como dibujar un semicírculo, con dos frijoles a los lados, y debajo, un acordeón (todo este conjunto se llama columna y labelo). Sé que mi explicación es muy rara, pero la flor también lo es, por eso no pude permitirme exactitud, ya que uno no puede dibujar lo que no entiende, y seré honesta: no terminé de entenderlo, pero ya después podré perfeccionarlo.

Debajo, decidí también bosquejar y trazar otra orquídea, porque sentí que una más le daría equilibrio al dibujo, dotándolo además de un poco más de personalidad.

Ya una vez listas las flores, se simplifica la cosa en sobremanera.

Con el lapicero, delineé las formas dibujadas anteriormente, con trazos rápidos, no poniéndole tanto cuidado, pues sentí que este era el estilo que quería que tuviera el dibujo.

Luego, pasé el borrador para eliminar los restos de grafito, a fin de que no ensuciaran el coloreado.

Para comenzar con el coloreado, es importante que tengan en cuenta la manera en que yo coloreo. Bueno, si es que se le puede llamar colorear, pues debo advertirles que de coloreado no sé nada. Bien, suelo usar dos colores, dando ligeras capas de cada color, una tras otra, alternando cada uno, hasta que alcanza el tono deseado. Lo cierto es que esto no ha funcionado tan bien como quisiera, ya que el material de los colores hace que no se mezclen tan fácil, y se nota cuando lo ves de cerca, pero bueno, jiji.

Dicho esto, para el estambre de la flor usé marrón cálido y amarillo para las puntas, y solo verde para los palillos, ya que el tono de estos suele ser de un verde muy pálido.

Luego, con color ciruela, fui añadiendo rápidas líneas curvas que son como los plieguecitos de los pétalos. Pero, como no me convencía, entonces di más trazos rápidos por cada pétalo, intentando que los trazos siguieran los ángulos de estos pétalos, como una manera de dotarlos de sombra y movimiento. También delineé la forma de los pétalos con el mismo color ciruela. Añadí verde oscuro en el centro, para dar sombras.

Por último, di trazos rápidos con lapicero justo donde cada pétalo se curva hacia abajo, a manera de añadir un pliegue más visible.

El tallo y las hojas los coloreé con ciruela y verde oscuro. Realmente no me gustó nada la combinación, pero ya no había vuelta atrás. Elegí esos colores porque a veces he visto hojas y tallos con tonos morados, por lo que pensé que podría imitarlo, ilusa yo. Al menos combina con la flor.

Para la flor de en medio, usé amarillo, naranja y rojo en sus brácteas. Dejando los bordes ligeramente naranjas. Es decir, concentré el color rojo y naranja en la base.

Con color verde oscuro y marrón cálido, coloreé el tallo y la hoja. También añadí las venas de la hoja con rápidos trazos de lapicero.

Para las orquídeas, usé líneas moradas para las venas o plieguecitos de los pétalos y sépalos. En las orillas usé morado y azul claro.

También di color sutil con trazos rápidos y suaves a los pétalos y sépalos, pero a los sépalos inferiores les di mucha más intensidad y además mezclé con ciruela.

Al final, terminé añadiendo también color ciruela a los bordes, y delineando los pliegues con rápidos trazos de lapicero, para luego pasar un trazo fuerte de morado por encima.

Finalmente, coloreé la columna y labelo con color amarillo, rosado y un poco de morado.

En la flor de abajo, repetí el mismo proceso. Es increíble como dos flores coloreadas con el mismo proceso exacto, no se ven iguales. Como en la vida, cada una es diferente.

Por último, usando color verde oscuro y tan solo un poco de ciruela, dibujé el tallo y la hoja. Me gustó mucho más el tono intenso con el que quedó esta vez.

El fondo se veía muy blanco, así que con rápidos trazos de color rosa, lo coloreé. Y ahora sí, ya hemos terminado.

Es la primera vez que dibujo estas flores, así que estaba nerviosa del resultado final. Creo que no me compete a mí decidir si es un buen dibujo o no, ya que eso queda a criterio del espectador.

Dibujar estas flores me sirvió para entender un poco más sobre ellas, y la verdad es que estas son sencillas si las comparamos con mi flor favorita: la rosa. Tantos giros terminan por marearme.

So, a few days ago I decided to draw some flowers, but they're not just any flowers and it's not just any drawing. This is a drawing I made as a gift for my boyfriend's mom and they're her favorite flowers. I think not having money doesn't mean I can't give a gift, especially when you draw, I believe you have all the possibilities to create whatever you want in your hands.

So, for now, join me in my not-so-orderly process of drawing a modest floral arrangement. Here we go!

To start this drawing, I traced two circles and an oval in the center. These shapes served to delimit the area of the flowers. I added a small circle in the center of the top circle, to guide me to where the center of the flower would be.

Then, I sketched the general shape of each flower.

On the left, there's a lily, so I made curved lines to guide the shape of the petals at that angle.

In the center, the flower is a (I had to look up the name) riqui-riqui, although my boyfriend's mom told me it was an ave del paraíso, and on some sites they called it that, but they also call it platanillo, what do you all know it as? Anyway, as for this middle flower, I sketched its bracts (that's what those claws are called), tracing a shape similar to garlic cloves, but with a much more pointed end. Another interesting fact about these flowers is that the flowers aren't the bracts, but are sheltered inside them and are much smaller.

Finally, I made rounded shapes to try to decipher the structure of the orchid, I tried to simplify everything in general, following the advice that is always given to all of us drawers, I think I managed it.

Then, I proceeded to do an outline to make the shape of the flowers clearer. On the lily I added the stamen in the center and the natural curves of the petals, keeping the angle of these very much in mind. I also added the stems with slightly curved lines, and the leaf with a very curved line.

The middle flower didn't need much work, I just added the stem and a leaf behind it, this time using straighter strokes.

The orchid was a challenge, since I consider it a quite abstract flower, although beautiful (it's our national flower, proudly!). Let's see, if I had to describe the shapes I would say it's like two fans on the sides (called petals), a garlic clove in the center and two garlic cloves on the lower part (called dorsal sepal and sepals). The central part was more like drawing a semicircle, with two beans on the sides, and below, an accordion (this whole set is called the column and lip). I know my explanation is very weird, but the flower is too, that's why I couldn't allow myself exactness, since you can't draw what you don't understand, and I'll be honest: I didn't quite understand it, but I can perfect it later.

Below, I also decided to sketch and trace another orchid, because I felt one more would give balance to the drawing, also giving it a little more personality.

Once the flowers were ready, things got much simpler.

With the pen, I outlined the previously drawn shapes, with quick strokes, not paying too much attention to detail, because I felt this was the style I wanted the drawing to have.

Then, I used the eraser to remove the graphite residue, so it wouldn't dirty the coloring.

To start coloring, it's important to keep in mind the way I color. Well, if it can even be called coloring, because I must warn you that I know nothing about coloring. Okay, I usually use two colors, giving light layers of each color, one after another, alternating each one, until reaching the desired shade. The truth is that this hasn't worked as well as I'd like, since the material of the colored pencils makes them not blend so easily, and you notice it when you look up close, but oh well, hehe.

That said, for the stamen of the flower I used warm brown and yellow for the tips, and only green for the stamens, since their tone is usually a very pale green.

Then, with plum color, I added quick curved lines that are like the little folds of the petals. But, since I wasn't convinced, I then gave more quick strokes over each petal, trying to make the strokes follow the angles of these petals, as a way to give them shadow and movement. I also outlined the shape of the petals with the same plum color. I added dark green in the center, to give shadows.

Finally, I gave quick strokes with a pen right where each petal curves downwards, to add a more visible fold.

I colored the stem and leaves with plum and dark green. I really didn't like the combination at all, but there was no turning back. I chose those colors because sometimes I've seen leaves and stems with purple tones, so I thought I could imitate it, silly me. At least it matches the flower.

For the middle flower, I used yellow, orange and red on its bracts. Leaving the edges slightly orange. That is, I concentrated the red and orange color at the base.

With dark green and warm brown, I colored the stem and the leaf. I also added the veins of the leaf with quick pen strokes.

For the orchids, I used purple lines for the veins or little folds of the petals and sepals. On the edges I used purple and light blue.

I also gave subtle color with quick, soft strokes to the petals and sepals, but to the lower sepals I gave much more intensity and also mixed with plum.

In the end, I ended up also adding plum color to the edges, and outlining the folds with quick pen strokes, to then pass a strong purple stroke over them.

Finally, I colored the column and lip with yellow, pink and a little purple.

On the lower flower, I repeated the same process. It's incredible how two flowers colored with the exact same process don't look the same. As in life, each one is different.

Lastly, using dark green and just a little plum, I drew the stem and the leaf. I liked the intense tone it had this time much more.

The background looked very white, so with quick pink strokes, I colored it. And now yes, we're done.

It's the first time I draw these flowers, so I was nervous about the final result. I think it's not up to me to decide if it's a good drawing or not, since that's up to the viewer's criteria.

Drawing these flowers helped me understand a little more about them, and the truth is that these are simple compared to my favorite flower: the rose. So many twists and turns end up dizzying me.
