When I first read "When your plugs are working but you have no light," it was like slowly opening a door that offered me a perspective of a universe that resembles the poetic frames of Birgitta Trotzig. The material mixed with non-material, the fluidity of senses and the lack of any temporality, though a certain amount of it is insinuated in different moments at each step...all these just made me trust, accept and welcome the reading experience as I was completely opening up to it. This poem encompasses a short minimal compilation of inner states. The reader is given the access to look through a periscope, to surface to the reality of senses. What happens in fact? You can smell this poem, actually see it, feel it and all these changes inside you, as a reader, are just shifting shapes in a kaleidoscope of purely being, existing within the poem and outside of it, at the same time.

Esta historia sencilla ("Un grano de arena en el zapato"), clara y bien escrita no cuenta una historia, no como estamos acostumbrados a leerla, es decir, con presentación, nudo y desenlace como explica Aristóteles en su poética; este es un relato acerca de un grano de arena que movido por la curiosidad y el deseo de conocer, se sube a los zapatos de un hombre y aunque luego el hombre lo saca y lo abandona, el grano nos deja con la impresión de que así somos todos en la vida; pequeños universos que necesitamos de empujones para avanzar, para encontrar sentido, para mantener la esperanza.

The drawing of @elsan.artes

The gaze in art is important. Especially in oil paintings, the male gaze was the standard. In the work provided by @elsan.artes, one wonders who is doing the gazing. The figure staring back at us distorts the expectation that our gaze, be it male or female, is the preferred one. Instead, the figure gazes back at us almost daring us to look back. We cannot but feel uncomfortable at the eyes looking at us. Occupying the center of the artwork, the eyes draw us in and capture our attention. A rather mystical figure, we are almost pushed away from the gaze of this old man.

En este post, el autor nos muestra diferentes lugares del este de Italia; paisajes y espacios arquitectónicos antiguos que muestras el detalle de texturas en primer plano, así como perspectivas que engrandece y le da ese carácter de distinción protagónica que convierte las imágenes en obras de arte.

The painting of @kouhei-gahaku

The caption of @kouhei-gahaku’s artwork reads: "Mirror. Mirror. What do I look like?" Normally one would ask, "What do I see?" But this seeming triviality can be used to explain the artwork. In the artwork we see two hands contorting and twisting the face of a subject/figure. We might initially ask if it is the subject's own hands, but reading the artwork through the "what do I look like" phrase, we are at once confronted by the idea that we are in fact the mirror, and consequently also the hands. That is, the subject of the painting is seeing itself through our eyes. A fitting metaphor for contemporary times, the artwork confronts us with our appearance-centered mentality especially promoted on social media platforms. Who is looking at us and how are their hands shaping my appearance?
