The music of lk666@lk666

The drawing of anissignature@anissignature

Cross-hatching is a technique most art students must do but few succeed to master it. In Drawing An Aged Man, artist anissignature@anissignature exemplifies a mastery in his penmanship by presenting an old man in the cross-hatching style. Closing his eyes, the shadows of the violent pen markings start to envelope him. The viewer stands in a unique position to witness the pain and struggles of the old man, his own eyes closed to the troubles that await him. There is real emotion in the drawing and on the old man’s face. And we privileged spectators share in this moment.

The fiction of franvenezuela@franvenezuela

The photography of akukamaruzzaman@akukamaruzzaman

The fiction of deeanndmathews@deeanndmathews

Source

For the Ink Well, author deeanndmathews@deeanndmathews has written a series of stories set in Lofton County, Va. Like Faulkner, she uses her fictional county to explore a Southern milieu, though hers is a contemporary South that includes the advent of Covid-19 and an empowered black family toying with the lingering racism of Faulkner's South. Each installment is a standalone short story (centered around two of the families in Lofton County); however, there is a layer of enjoyment added to the reading as characters and situations reappear and develop, and when new members of the families are introduced. The latest installment, "When Colonel Sanders Makes Gumbo In Virginia as a Gift," is a dialogue between two recurring characters: the nine-year-olds Vertran and Louisa, who have recently become engaged. deeanndmathews@deeanndmathews does a good job humorously presenting the voices of two sweetly precocious children, and an excellent job using their dialogue as a device for sharing a family anecdote as a story within the story. I hope deeanndmathews@deeanndmathews will publish an anthology post, so that we can all easily find each chapter of the Lofton County series.
