For the week of November 10 to 16, we selected five works by four artists.

The painting of @brunonacif

Editor's Note: Two paintings by @brunonacif were selected by Graphic Art Curator @fermentedphil. They were published in separate posts, the links to which you can find below each painting.

^"Ella"

^"Notas"

Looking at these two artworks, one would not think it came from the same artist. "Ella" is a haunting portrait of a figure in a style reminiscent of abstract expressionism, and "Notas" almost completely abstract. However, "Ella" feels more alive and freer where in "Notas" the artist pulled in on the reigns of this freedom. The comparison showcases the talent of the artist, @brunonacif, over mediums and themes/subjects; a rare feat for artists today. "Ella" feels incomplete, yet complete in its incompleteness. "Notas," in contrast, is refined and detailed. The piano keys reminds one of a mountain in an adventure story with rough waters that guard it. The two artworks are challenging to interpret and stare the viewer in the face: "Ella" with its brutality and "Notas" with its grandeur.

The poetry of @isaomaroon

"La mujer que escribe" es un poema muy sentido, escrito con la fuerza desgarradora de la interioridad; un poema imaginativo y realista; que expone el mundo interior de la mujer que escribe con amor, con sufrimiento, que nace y muere en la escritura. Un poema que es también una exaltación a la palabra.

The music of @esteliopadilla

@esteliopadilla nos comparte la interpretación de "Murmurando" en compañía de una mandolina, para lograr los sonidos y ejecución emplea una pista a modo de backing track y también utiliza un pick, también conocido como uña para la guitarra, para lograr un rápida ejecución con su mano derecha. Esta música se conoce como Choro brasilero o Choriño y fue compuesta por Otaviano de Assis Romero Monteiro (Fon Fon 1908 - 1951) y Mario Rossi (1902 - 1992). El ángulo fotográfico le da un toque mágico al video compartido por @esteliopadilla.

The painting of @mohanraj

In the centre of this artwork, the artist @mohanraj paints a lone figure looking down whilst walking on a pathway. The viewer’s eyes are guided by the pathway to the figure, with a rural backdrop. The artist succeeds in producing a serenity and quietude with this figure walking on a road that metaphorically we all have walked. On the one side is chaotic nature with all the sounds, and on the other side, the work of humans, ordered and neat. But nature hangs over the figure, almost as if it were to tell us that we cannot really separate the two.
