Today's hike was with my two boys in Nehantic State Forest. It is located in East Lyme Connecticut. It was great day for hiking, about 55-60 degrees F. There was a steady wind, which was welcome, considering the walking got us all warm enough. We head down the trail about noon. Even at noon the sun still hides behind the tree tops low in the southern sky.
Many of the trees still hold onto their leaves, trying to insulate themselves from the cold late autumn air.
We came to the river about a mile into the hike. The area is littered with large boulders, which draw the rivers waters into the base of the surrounding hills, creating a swampy mess along it's borders.
On the other side of the bridge, the shallow rivers draws your eyes along its length, almost like it begs us to explore its banks.
These photos were taken by me, on a hike with my boys to Nehantic state park in Connecticut. I hope you enjoy.
