My daughter is solo hiking the Ice Age Trail across Wisconsin in segments. Her work schedule doesn't allow her to have several days off in a row, so she has to be satisfied with 2 day, hikes with one overnight.

These are her photos from the most recent section last week. The first day she hiked around 8 miles and the second day 14 miles. Her pack weighs around 30 lbs(13.6 kg)

She started off hiking at the flowing well. Many people go there to fill containers with water to avoid chemicals that are in the city water supply. It also gave her a place where she could leave her car until she completed her hike and could get a ride back to pick it up.

She added an extra half mile or so to her hike by missing the teeny tiny little yellow arrow that was supposed to tell her she was supposed to turn on this gravel road. She had just assumed it was someone's driveway and didn't pay any attention to the fact that the trail was turning onto the road.

This muddy little flowing stream of water was marked on her trail map as the fresh water supply. Even after running it through her filter she said it still tasted awful.

The designated camping site where she set up her tent and spent the night was full of mosquitos but her mosquito incense and thermacell quicky took care of getting rid of them.

Sand Hill Cranes

These Highbush Cranberries are native to North America but the raw berries are extremely tart, astringent, and contain a large seed. They are best cooked into jellies, syrups, sauces, or jams with added
sweetener.
