Hey guys! So recently I adopted an adorable little rabbit. I am currently in the trials of learning how to take care of her, and keep her happy and healthy. She is an angora rabbit, and her name is Kore (pronounced Koré). I have an enclosure for her, but it isn't very big and i wanted her to be able to run around my yard without worrying I'll loose her. This was the best solution I could think of.
I did a lot of research on bunny harnesses but I didn't find much. I measured her and then drafted a pattern for it. I made it with fleece on the inside and a cotton fabric on the outside. I used 2 D-rings to attach the leash and one golden ring that has no real purpose. I hand sewed the whole thing because I currently do not have a sewing machine.
After I made her harness, I let her loose into mums greens. She has been on many walks since then, and she loves it.
The first thing I did was measure my rabbit. I measured her stomach circumference, the length of her back, and over her shoulder.
After I measured her, I drew a pattern onto some fabric to make a mock-up. I made some adjustments to it until it fit properly, and then I cut it out of some cotton and fleece.
I added a ribbon on the back that held on the metal rings.
Then I sewed the fleece to the cotton with the right sides together, then turned them right sides out. I whip-stitched the back together.
Then I sewed the shoulder straps to the stomach pieces. After that I added a snap on the ends of the stomach pieces.
Here is a finished version of my pattern. I tried scanning it into a .pdf file but I was having computer trouble.
I hope you guys liked my diy! I am sorry I forgot to take pictures while I was sewing. Kore is enjoying the bit of exercise this gives her. I am trying to motivate myself to not procrastinate about writing for you guys as much, but the holidays are getting busy. Happy whatever holidays you guys celebrate!
Edit: I have been trying to figure out what type of brush would be best for her and any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
