Information and Communication Technologies. Greetings friends and fellow readers, here I am again with one of my favorite topics such as education but today from the technological field, warm greetings to all this great team.
Technological and scientific development did not come out of nowhere, a long process of paradigmatic collapse had to take place to reach what today is understood as global village, or globalized world; from the prevailing paradigm in the positivist and modern world, we have moved to a world marked by a permanent change, or progressive questioning of everything we have had so far as true, we are moving to a global and complex paradigm.
Educational Institutions are not alien nor are they far from a changing, interconnected and extremely informed world, which makes use of sophisticated technologies to carry out a daily life that sometimes exceeds the capacity of discernment and understanding of the common people, to enter a forest of networks, teleinformatics, robotics, cybernetics, information highway, virtual reality and online universities. In other words, we are living a technological revolution that impacts all contexts of human life, and particularly the educational one.
In other words, we find ourselves in a world in which new generations of inventions, technological developments and products of various kinds are being produced at every instant, and the advances and changes are certainly surprising us all because of their marvelous capabilities and scope.
All this avalanche of techno-scientific events in the last 20 years has brought about substantive changes in the formal educational system, and specifically in university education and its impact, since it goes beyond the form and its conceptual implications to enter into the context and brings with it a mission and vision for universities, that is, in the very essence of such institutions.
To combine both aspects, that is to say that we must pay enough attention to the new tools given by today's technology to teachers and students in the classrooms, as well as to investigate the depth of the conceptualization of what is understood as university in the light of this globalized world and of great educational challenges, is a priority task if we wish to advance in the conquest of institutions and spaces, given to the demands of life and of contemporary man, thus being able to address the field of its social relevance and its permanence in historical time.
In Venezuelan education, particularly at the higher level, it must open itself with flexibility and without reticence to the realities of an unpredictable world, overwhelmed with variables and possibilities, which refuses to continue accepting as valid paradigms already exhausted; a changing world, in constant challenge, immersed in a global context articulated in blocks or poles of development, based on production and productivity.
In our country, the extraordinary development of information and communication technologies (ICT), which make it possible to bring people and regions located at abysmal distances into contact with each other in fractions of a second, with the consequences for progress that derive from them, makes it necessary to bring the educational system up to speed in order to respond to so many expectations. Institutions cannot continue to be anchored to models that do not correspond to the circumstances of today's nation, with new needs, actors and processes that are different from those of the past.
Venezuela is currently at the genesis of the unusual technological development of the last fifty years, which has drastically and dramatically overturned the conception of the country and its real possibilities, initiating an unstoppable process of transformation in all areas of human life.
Science, economy, telecommunications, politics, culture, religion and education have not escaped the hurricane of the new times, which implies the necessary pause to reflect on the country and its giant steps towards the future.
The knowledge society has broken the old educational schemes based on rigid, vertical, extremely formal conceptions of the academy, the contemporary technological development has given a 180-degree turn to the interrelation of one with the other and the parameters of life until recently unalterable and unchangeable.
Today we speak of cybereconomy, of turbo-capitalism, of videoconferencing, of certified virtual universities that reach hundreds of thousands of people on all continents, and that grant undergraduate and graduate degrees without requiring schooling or physical presence.
If we analyze this broad spectrum of advances, we can only conclude that the Venezuelan educational environment must now undergo a change in its structures. Such a change must start from a new education and institutions, to make them more flexible and dynamic in order to respond to the new demands of the globalized world.
In the education system, the conception of the teaching-learning process, historically based on the Napoleonic university, whose rigid administrative and academic structures impede progress in various areas of its social development, is a matter of concern.
While it is true, the teaching function is found that in university classrooms traditional teaching or the master class prevails, in which the teacher acts as the main actor of the process "imparting" knowledge that students must "receive" passively.
The need to know what are the perspectives and challenges of higher education in Venezuela and within the framework of this global world, which is presented as one of great expectations and challenges, not only for the Venezuelan state, but also for the intelligence of its men, is an urgent task for the construction of a higher education system in accordance with the current times, characterized by changes and profound social, economic, political, religious, ethical and ultimately planetary transformations.
Information technology and telecommunications are the sectors of greatest growth and development worldwide, given that they underpin the economic and social boom of countries. In this sense, convergence is recognized in order to massify the use of information and communication technologies.
In addition, telecommunications and information technology are the main driving force of the information and knowledge society, and their importance is indisputable, being considered as strategic elements for development, tele-education and telemedicine, which are becoming more and more important in daily activities.
The revolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is an important innovation in terms of transformation in the social, political, economic, educational and other aspects, its impact continues to spread and generate a continuous wave of innovations. Currently, most countries make use of information technology and telecommunications networks for the development, consolidation and massification of many services such as: banking, education, medicine, e-commerce, intelligent organizations, tourism, among others, which have occurred throughout time, thus improving the quality of life of people.
It pleases us all to solve from the comfort of home, pay services and even shopping for food, food and receive it at home just by making the request through social networks as most businesses give you this possibility and the environment in which we are based, education through technology, we continue to advance and improve our status of life, thanks to God and great minds.
