Have a different day lined up. My wife has taken the day off and we are heading into Sydney for a Cheese & Wine Club lunch at one of her favourite restaurants. The club came together a gazillion years ago - bank people and University of Sydney people
We took the train - Metro - light rail and walk to the restaurant. Photo taken across Darling Harbour and the Maritime Museam
Another angle of Sky Tower
Photos shared a bit in reverse order. We had coffee in the cafe in Central Station Grand Concourse. The floors had the logos of each of the states. No photos
Did take photos of the wood carvings around the top of the cafe. Guessing this is the crossing of the Hawkesbury River - one big arch and three smaller arches
Going to guess somewhere up on Lake Macquarie with a coal mine and a power station
Grain silos out Narrabri way. My brother-in-law currently drives grain trains (diesel now) from there to Newcastle
A mix of modes here makes for a confusing photo. The arches suggests Central Station. Somehow doubt it was used for goods traffic - been passenger focused for years and years
These tableaux have dates on them
1850 - a day at the races - the first railway ran from Sydney to Parramatta in 1855. They walked or came by horse and cart. The second panel is the opening of the first line
First panel is expansion of the railway into regional NSW - they built some fab arch bridges. Second panel is the start of the underground railway - Wynyard station built that year.
A fab exploration of Sydney railway history preserved up on the walls on what would have been a bustling dining place. Now just a coffee shop
We had a fab lunch and a few drinks after at The Pyrmont Bridge Hotel. There is evidence.
A bit late to get any more photos of Sky Tower. It was dark when we got home. While we had had a good lunch, there was a request for dinner. Made a simple Thai basil chicken stir fry - Gai Pad Kaprow - worked well
Was not a walking day - took a few walks to empty bins to get over 5K. Too bad the Fitbit does not measure drinking. Might have to switch over the Cambridge Uni left handed drinking club
