Yellow day on Mt Ku-ring Gai Track on Orca day : February 12 2026
Spent a whack of time in the morning trying to get a scrolling reel uploaded to Instagram - something went wrong message. Tried a bunch of things suggested by the AI searches. Eventually landed on a tried and tested tool. Load the video in Handbrake and export from there. What should have been a 5 minute job took more that 3 hours. I feel sorry for people trying this stuff without 40 years of IT background
Took the umbrella for a train walk to Mt Ku-ring Gai Track. Did need the umbrella a bit. Pine-leafed geebung with the favourite track view
One wallaby raced across the track in front of me. This one did a big U-turn to head back. Stood for a while to see if it would cross the track. It did not. But it did stay in one spot for photo shot
Mixed grevillea sheoak bush with a few scribbly gums - not good for summer orchids
Next in the yellow line - hibbertia with raindrops
Mushroom action on track edge - saucer size. Was not showing last week
NSW coral heath flower with shades of pink
More yellow - pea flower
More yellow - goodenia I think. Looked it up - variable-leafed goodenia
NSW coral heath flower - less pink and more white - epacris pulchella
Turned back to make the 30 minute train around. The wallaby that had doubled back had come down to trackside and was feeding there. Stayed still for photos and a video
Walk done - not too wet.
My wife was back from her "help the family" duties when I got back. She liked the idea of massaman curry for dinner. She drove up to shops for coconut cream. Was a good dinner choice
Excited to find I have achieved next level up on Hive.blog - now an Orca. One level to go - might take as long as the last step up - close to 10 years
