Bonnet orchids only from Ku-ring Gai Chase NP: January 14 2026
Morning got a bit busy catching up with the investing for the week. Keen to be somewhat up to date before options expiry - going to be busy weekend writing that up. Took the car out to fill up and walk a slice of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP to see if midge orchids have started
Grey spider grevillea
A pink spider grevillea - get one, get the other
Tea tree flower - eriostemon
Always a carpet of lichen in this spot
Some days one gets really lucky - an ant on a stalk - never seen one of those
Epacris pulchella - NSW coral heath flower
No midge orchids but there were a few bonnet orchids - cryptostylis erecta in a few spots
A bit side on view. Are getting to end of season with each flower being the one top of the spike
Pea flower - a bit hairy on the leaves. Best focal point in the shot
An unusual shot showing the inner side as the outside sepals and petals fold away
Two more bonnet orchids on the way back
Could be a few weeks where this is the orchid on show especially as midge orchids seem to be late
Grassy areas under the powerlines is often a good place for midge orchids - none here.
Did remember this location for snake orchids on the way back to the road - bit small to offer up flowers this year
This one in the next fork is a bit bigger - wait a year. Easy access from my normal walk - just have to remember.
Was a bit steamy to go to shops - humidity is hard work.
Did get past one of the next product launch material out - a preview of Rapid Recurring Revenue product from Shane Doyle

Did cook dinner: Salmon sous vide - no photos
