Belle was my favorite too - the first Disney movie in years (since, like, Cinderella, or something). Then came Mulan, Aladdin, and Mermaid. Mulan looked better to me with every new movie I saw as our three kids were growing up. And yes, the original fairy tale, in which Little Mermaid loses her prince AND her voice to the sea witch, is no fun to read!!!
