Today I bring you an interesting and special review for reading lovers, it's about the Goodreads app, a social network for readers that you will definitely love as soon as you get to know it. I will also be sharing here tips to manage the application in the best possible way. So let's get started!

El día de hoy les traigo una reseña interesante y especial para los amantes de la lectura, se trata pues de la aplicación Goodreads, una red social para lectores que definitivamente te va a encantar en cuanto la conozcas. También estaré compartiendo por aquí algunos pasos para manejar la aplicación de la mejor forma posible. Así que ¡Comencemos!
Goodreads is originally a website that serves as a social network and now it has brought its users the possibility of getting the app for mobile devices. The function of Goodreads is to offer a database with a number of books (of all genres) that allows users to organize their reading. Here you will not be able to read the books, it is not a library or a platform dedicated to the visualization of texts, the idea is that we can share our opinions about the books we want to read, are reading or have already read. That way other users or friends can have an idea about that title (book).
Although the idea in itself could be a little disappointing for some, because of the fact of not being able to read the books directly in a virtual way, the truth is that it is quite useful to keep a better reading control and here I will show you several advantages of having it. However, I know from my own experience that the interface of the web page and even the application for mobile devices, seems to be difficult to handle but, nothing like that, it is easier than you think. That's why I've taken the time to create a brief guide on how to get started on Goodreads if you're a new user.
Goodreads es originalmente una página web que sirve como red social y actualmente ha traigo a sus usuarios la posibilidad de obtener la aplicación para dispositivos móviles. La función de Goodreads es la de ofrecer una base de datos con una cantidad de libros (de todos los géneros) que permita organizar a los usuarios en sus lecturas. Aquí no podrás leer los libros, no es una biblioteca o una plataforma dedicada a la visualización de textos, la idea es que podamos compartir nuestras opiniones al respecto de los libros que queremos leer, estamos leyendo o ya hemos leído. De esa forma otros usuarios o amigos podrán tener una idea sobre ese título (libro).
Aunque la idea en si pudiera ser un poco decepcionante para algunos, por el hecho de no poder leer directamente los libros de manera virtual, la verdad es que es bastante útil para poder llevar un mejor control de lectura y aquí te iré mostrando varias ventajas de tenerlo. Sin embargo, sé por experiencia propia que la interfaz de la página web e incluso, la aplicación para dispositivos móviles, parece ser dificil de manejar pero, nada de eso, es más fácil de lo que crees. Por ello he tomado el tiempo para crear una breve guía de cómo iniciar en Goodreads si eres un usuario nuevo.
Step number 1 - Open an account: although it may seem obvious, it may not be for many and it is also a vital step as it depends on your activity log being saved in your profile. To open an account you just have to go to the official website or directly from the application, although I recommend the website as it has more features. You can log in through the Sign Up option, with a Facebook or Amazon account or if you prefer you can register with your email: name, email and password. Verify the verification message in your email and you are ready to enter formally.
Paso número 1 - Abrir una cuenta: aunque parezca algo obvio, puede no serlo para muchos y es además un paso vital ya que de ello depende de que tú registro de actividades se guarden en tu perfil. Para abrir una cuenta solo debes ir a la página oficial o directamente desde la aplicación, aunque recomiendo que sea desde la página web ya que tiene más funciones. Puedes iniciar sesión a través de la opción Sign Up, con una cuenta de Facebook o Amazon o si lo prefieres realizas un registro con tu correo electrónico: nombre, correo y contraseña. Verificas el mensaje de verificación en tu correo y estas listos para ingresar de manera formal.
Step number 2 - Respond to the Goodreads options: to make your experience as personal as possible, the site will launch certain options that will help it get to know you. As I mentioned above, it is a social network and if you log in with your Facebook or Gmail account, the site automatically suggests friends who belong to Goodreads and you can add them. It also asks you to select some of the literary genres that most appeal to you. And as a last proposal, it offers you the option to make an annual reading challenge where you can indicate the number of books you want to finish reading that year. After all this, we will enter Home.
Paso número 2 - Responde a las opciones de Goodreads: para que tú experiencia sea lo más personal posible, la página lanzara ciertas opciones que lo ayudarán a conocerte. Como mencione arriba, es una red social y si ingresas con tu cuenta de Facebook o Gmail, automáticamente la página te sugiere amistades que pertenecen a Goodreads y puedes agregarlos. También te pide seleccionar algunos de los géneros literarios que más te atraigan. Y como última propuesta, te ofrece la opción de realizar un reto anual de lectura donde podrás indicar la cantidad de libros que quieras terminar de leer ese año. Pasado todo esto, entraremos a Home.
Step number 3 - Start using Goodreads: at this point we are ready to start browsing the site so you have two ways to do it; you can search directly for the books that interest you or if you don't have a clear idea, you can look for suggestions of some titles through your friends or other Goodreads users. In either case, when you have found the book you were looking for, you will have three options to assign this title in your personal record as: I want to read, reading or read. You can even edit your progress on that reading. Then you can go to your profile and verify that indeed everything is in the order you aspire.
Paso número 3 - ¡Empieza a utilizar Goodreads!: en este punto estamos listos para poder iniciar la navegación por la página así que tienes dos formas de hacerlo; puedes buscar directamente los libros que te interesan o sino tienes una idea clara, puedes buscar sugerencias de algunos títulos a través de tus amigos o otros usuarios de Goodreads. En cualquiera de los dos casos, cuando hayas conseguido el libro que buscabas, tendrás tres opciones para destinar este título en tu registro personal como: Quiero leer, leyendo o leído. Puedes incluso editar tu progreso sobre dicha lectura. Luego podrás ir a tu perfil y verificar que efectivamente se encuentra todo en el orden que aspiras.

The ideal on Goodreads is that we interact with some users and leave a good review and rating about the book read, so my suggestion is that every time you finish reading a title you go to the option to generate a review and write how was your experience with this reading, as well as leave the various from one to five stars according to your opinion.
