Tournaments are fun!

No, I didn't place firs tin the latest PKM tournament, but I had to grab a screen shot from the early goings showing myself un first place 😀 I had no illusions I would finish in first place, but I was proud of my 3-0 start and enjoyed the feeling of being in the lead for a short time.

Tournaments can be tough and victories don't come easy so I make sure to celebrate the wins I do get. This is part of what makes tournaments a great addition to your SPlinterlands game play. I learn a lot from the wins and losses that can be used to make me a better player in my day to day gameplay. Oh and there are prizes too 😁

After the 3-0 start I went 3-5 and finished with a winning record and in 88th place. Good enough to get my 1 PKM entry fee back plus an additional 25 DEC. I don't often end up with a winning record in tournaments so this is a big accomplishment for me.

Tournament Battle

Here was the last battle of the tournament for me that kept me on the positive side of victories. I love the battle detail screen from tournament battles! I might have to take some notes from SPlinterlands here and start displaying my battles like this for posts.

For a mid-level mana cap battle with the equalizer ruleset I like to use Thaddius. A big part of winning equalizer battles is having more health than your opponent. Thanddius' health debuff makes a big dent in the amount of health your opponent starts with.

CARD
WHY DID I CHOOSE IT?
This card shines in the equalizer ruleset. As a base card with one health it doesn't often work, but with a health boost the nine armor is a beast!
I like the stun ability here to hopefully take an attack or two away from my opponent to make my health last longer.
Life Leech further helps distance the health gap
The two magic attack, snipe and camouflage make Necrosi a tough card to beat
The shatter ability can help take down the opponents tank much more quickly.

How did it play out?

I failed to win the health game out of the gate as my opponent used good strategy and deployed six cards to my five. Thankfully Thaddius' debuff meant I was only behind by three health. Thanks to Shatter Djinn Chwala didn't do as much thorns damage to me as it could have and I was able to overcome the one card deficit. This is a good lesson however, equalizer also means try to get as many cards on the filed as possible! Beyond number of cards, think of the abilities that the cards have because all the cards will have the same base health.
