Just a few days before my voyage I had a few things to put in order in the front yard garden. Planting lentils, sowing microgreens, and enjoying my mini front yard garden ahead!
Most of this garden lives in potted plants. A totally mobile garden seems best at the moment as we plan to move in a year or so. When we moved there I found about a dozen ceramic pots and hundreds of plastic pots in a shed.
Probably about a hundred birds pass through our yard each day. I really appreciate that wildlife feel safe here but, there are certain plants, such as seedlings, that need an extra layer of protection from the local fauna.
Jona gifted me a few more herbs so, I decided to plant it in our mini water bowl that birds and the cats all use. This thyme plant will be able to with stand the birds who may scratch around in the soil and it smells amazing!
The really fragile plants need much more protection than a net or ceramic pot. The majority of cold sensitive plants are under a tiny "potting shed" that is also located under the lo-quot tree. Just a couple feet away we have ...
Night temps can still reach freezing and we also have a couple of cows roaming around the land. So all the lettuces, arugula, and ... are currently residing in microgreen trays under the tiny potting shed which is covered in anti-freeze fabric.
As my partner will be taking care of the garden while I am away for three weeks I didn't want to leave him too much responsibility. Just two rows of microgreens have been left under his care and all he has to do is water them well every three days or so.
I harvested mostly arrugula and mustard greens which were so tasty ontop of a pizza I made for my little going away party. Now I must go pack for my trip, must bus leaves tomorrow!
