You guys, I barely touched Steemit (in my case, Busy.org) all weekend. We had @jkms visiting and I was just toooo busy to hunch over the computer at all. Now here I am trying to catch up with all my fave Steemians posts, and I'm sure I'm going to run out of Voting Power pretty quick. Forgive me! :)
Anyway, I thought today would be a nice day to share a photo of our cat, Miss Muggins. Aka Muggs, Mean Muggin, Bitch Cat (only my Stepdad uses that one). @mstafford and I adopted her from the wonderful Calgary Humane Society in 2011. She is snuggly and fun and has the most bizarre meow you've ever heard. It's raspy and awful and sounds like a dinosaur.
When we moved from Kelowna to Victoria, she hated it. I mean hated it. Not down with apartment living, traffic, upstairs neighbors, rain, none of it. She was urinating on all our stuff in protest. We didn't know what to do. It was a crisis. The cat was miserable. We were miserable. We loved her so much but we were literally torturing her.
But, you see, that's what moms are for. Good moms know when to swoop in and help. "Why don't you bring her back to Kelowna to live with me?"
So we did. Muggs lives happily in the home I grew up in. She comes and goes outside as she pleases. She has a kitty sister and two dogs to play with. And she rarely pees on anything anymore. Mom loves her, so it all worked out. We are so lucky!
Now when we go back to Kelowna for visits, we get to see our cat. She's always happy to see us and snuggles and purrs. Life is good!
I took this shot of her when we were living in Kelowna. She was a surprisingly easy cat to photograph. Obviously, she's very pretty. Her markings in oranges, browns, and whites, are striking. But she always cooperates quite well (for a cat) on the photo set. It's like she knows. Love you Miss Muggs!

I honestly can't remember what the lighting was on this one... it may have just been one very large (72") bounce umbrella behind me, and a couple naked speedlites doing edge lighting (which turned out very well!). Yeah that sounds about right, now that I think about it. I was a big fan of the big umbrella for pets as the light it created was so big and wrapping, that if they wiggled around a lot, it wasn't going to mess up the lighting pattern. It wasn't the best for creating nice crisp catchlights though, and it took up a lot of space.
