Peanut farm
We once lived in a rural area in the southeastern part of my country of origin. Then my mum was combining teaching with farming.

We had a Peanut farm around a mission school where she also teaches. She would always take us to the Peanut farm to check how it was doing. I would chase the birds off the farm and play around the wide and well-placed ridges.
One day, she asked my siblings and me to join her at the Peanut farm. When we got there, my mum taught us how to check when the Peanut is ready to harvest, and to my amazement, I saw her uprooting the peanut, so I shouted, “Mum, why are you destroying the Peanut?” That was when she taught us that it is the only way to check when it is ripe for harvest. That day I not only learnt how to harvest a peanut, but I also learnt that the peanut grows underground, not on the surface.
We happily harvested as much as we could, cooked, ate, and shared with our neighbours, friends, and family. I was super excited that the peanut farm could produce so many seeds, and I happily shared my peanut farm experience with my friends in the neighbourhood and at school.
