Hello #SciFimultiverse, thank God it's Friday. I welcome you to my blog.
Strategic Meeting
Honesty can be defined as a state of being truthful, but also respectfully doing that, not with a mindset to bring another down but to clarify things and set the record straight.
Recently, I faced a situation where I had to give a recommendation on a project we hoped to launch; however, there were concerns we needed to address and set the record straight to avoid regrets after kickoff.
So while being respectful about the personalities involved and what the expectations are for the project, I stated vividly and clearly the advantages and disadvantages of moving on with the project and suggested we clearly redefine our paths, look through our books, and do our business analysis on the profitability of the whole process rather than starting and stopping midway. I also respectfully advised that we follow our road map instead of jumping paths only to land in the deep blue sea.
Management Meeting Giving Honest Opinion
After the meeting, I was told that the senior board members were also afraid of the potholes I spotted but were scared of making their fears known until my presentation.
I was also happy that I bared my mind and had peace doing so. Hence, even if it was ignored, I would be happy that I spoke my truth. To my surprise, the project was put on hold while we continued with our roadmap.
However, on the other side, keeping quiet and letting the project fly would have given me a serious knock in the future and would definitely disturb my peace.
Honesty helps us build strong ties, good relationships, and helps us gain people's trust whether in our families, workplace, or society.
When we are honest in our dealings with people, it brings us business, referrals, and helps us gain people's confidence and integrity.
Conversely, when we lie, we destroy our integrity, and most often a lie needs serial lies to cover the first one. This is why some people are tagged as serial liars.
Lasting relationships, businesses, and friendships are built on honesty. When their foundation is established in honesty, it is difficult for challenges to pull it down. Honesty can withstand the test of time because, in the end, time will expose the truth, but when that truth is revealed and dishonesty is found, it results in shattered dreams.
Employee Engagement, Being Honest With Feedback
In conclusion, honesty is the road map to a happy and lasting relationship. Where there is honesty, peace and joy thrive because it strengthens trust, but where there is dishonesty, it destroys relationships, and it's difficult to rebuild such relationships.
