Family is the strongest of all bonds, they are our strength and weakness... During our tough times, they are always there to support us, and during their tough time too, we will want to support them no matter how difficult it is for us. This is why no other bond can be as strong as family.
My parent gave birth to six children, and I am the youngest. I have enjoyed some privileges in the past because of my elder siblings.
I was rebellious in my teenage years, and the main problem was that my mum wanted to cage me, but I was not ready to be locked inside all day. I wanted to explore, meet up with my peers, and have fun, so I was always sneaking out.
There was a day I went to one of the game centers in my community to play PS3 [PlayStation], I did not have it in mind to play a game that day cos I had no money, but there was this guy who kept challenging me to play loser pays with him. He was someone I felt I could win easily, so I took up the challenge... We played for many hours, and in the end, the game ended 7 - 2. I won 7 games and he won 2. The game was 20 naira per game, so losing twice means I have to pay 80 naira.
The person in charge of the game centre is very mean. If you play games without money, he would seize the debtor's personal belongings like clothes, phone, or even footwear, anything of value that can serve as collateral until you pay him.
You must be wondering why I could still dare to play a game there without money, knowing the reputation of the guy in charge and the embarrassment that awaits me, but of course, I also put all that into consideration before doing it.
The guy was my immediate elder brother friend, they attended the same school, and they are close, so I know he won't want to threaten or treat his friend's brother like a stranger, and I was right!, I pleaded with him to let me go, that I would give him the money the next day, and he was like It's because it's me o, I know what he meant with that statement. I thanked him for not embarrassing me like the rest and paid him the money the next day... That was a privilege I enjoyed because of his friendship with my brother.
When I finished secondary school and decided to seek greener pastures in other places, It was my elder sister place I went to, Some of my friends also wished they could leave the town but there was no place for them to go, but I have more than two places I can go to which were my sisters place and I just change place as I like until I was able to stand on my own.
Even till now I still enjoy privilege like that, when I wanted to move to my apartment in school, the person who helped me to bring my load in his bus was a friend of my sister and he only collected fuel money from me, It was me that later added 10k to the money to appreciate his help.
