I just finished reading “henryjnrr’s” post, and I loved the questions he asked himself, especially the part where he asked if his family would be okay with continuing life with his clone when he is gone. That also made me wonder: how would my family feel if I died today but left behind a clone with my memories to continue from where I stopped?
Would they feel the same closeness with the clone? Would they see the clone as family? Would blood still matter?
I believe our blood is very strong, and this is why we do not like to see our family in danger. It makes our blood boil. But would that same connection exist with a clone? I do not think so, because they would not share the same blood. It would just be a clone carrying the memories of someone they love.
This goes back to the Hive Learner prompt:
If I could make a clone of myself with my memories, would I do it?
If this were ever possible, the only situation that could make me consider it would be if my body was damaged beyond repair. I mean, if I were in a life-or-death situation where my body could no longer survive, for example, if I lost my legs or any vital part of my body, or was diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness, and the only solution was to transfer my memories into a clone and continue living, I would gladly do it.
This is because I still want to be around my family. I cannot imagine life without them, and I bet they would prefer my decision to never seeing me again.
I believe it would be the same for some families out there. If Grandma and Grandpa could make clones of themselves with their memories, many people would probably consider it, as long as it meant they could still have their loved ones around.
Our memories happen to be one of the biggest parts of our lives. But even without them, we can always create new memories. There is still something about being human that I understand but cannot fully explain.
In simple words, when you lose your memory in an accident, you may not remember anyone anymore. But somehow, when the people you once knew start coming back into your life, it might take time, but you may eventually learn who is who again.
Because sometimes, the heart seems to remember what the mind has forgotten.
And it could lead us to recognize those who mean a lot to us again with time.
So, a clone of myself is not something I completely rule out if the situation arises and it is the only option. I do not think it would necessarily be a bad thing.
I feel it will take science forever to make something like this possible, though. I mean, creating a clone is one thing, but creating a clone that can carry all of our memories is a completely different level.
