Greetings, Shadow Hunters community! Welcome to my entry for this week’s SMASH contest—we’re already at round #448, and we’ll soon hit 450 consecutive rounds! So, now is the time to keep hunting for shadows to share with the community. As for me, I’m still trying to optimize my time to keep up with my two jobs. My day began at my first job in the teaching laboratories, where I had to sterilize equipment for a lab session. I arrived early and spotted a few morning shadows, but nothing that really caught my eye. Once I finished, I headed off to my other job—located over 1,700 meters up a mountain—to teach classes at another university. It’s a four-hour block, almost non-stop, so you can imagine how demanding it is.

The challenge with teaching so far away—climbing a mountain to an altitude of 1,700 meters—is that you need efficient transportation with a reliable schedule to get back down. That particular day, we were informed that there would only be one shuttle available, at 6:15 PM! That was far too late for my liking; once I got back down to the city, I’d still have to retrieve my car from the teaching lab parking lot and drive at night—something I really dislike, especially given the absolute anarchy caused by motorcyclists in the city, which I try to avoid at all costs. So, I met with some other teachers to address the situation, and the best solution we came up with was to pool our money and pay a student who had a vehicle to drive four of us down to the city center. That way, I would have enough time to head home by twilight. We did just that, managing to get down from the mountain at 5:00 p.m. as the sun was setting. As we were arriving in the city center, I had the chance to photograph the shadows cast by these trees—something I had been wanting to capture for a while—and it was only under these specific circumstances that I was finally able to take the pictures.

Since we were coming from the south and the sun’s rays were already hitting from the west, the tree shadows were elongated, stretching out toward the east. That was the real charm: because the trees had been planted somewhat haphazardly, they formed a sort of mini-forest, and the projected shadows looked amazing. Unfortunately, it was partly cloudy, so the shadows didn't have quite the level of contrast I would have liked to capture. I also managed to photograph the car's shadow, which looked equally distorted—as if stretched out—extending well across the lawn, especially considering the antenna, which cast an incredible projection. My fellow teachers didn't understand what I was doing; to them, they were just trees planted along the highway. I told them I wasn't just photographing the trees, but their shadows—because I’m a shadow hunter now!

Well, friends, I hope you enjoyed these twilight shadows I captured on my way home from work. See you next week for another round of "Shadow Hunters." Have a great weekend!
