Not exactly. The proposed cash ban was going to make it a criminal act to do any transaction (with anyone) for over $10,000 AUD. Since it was defeated the banks HAVE tried to reduce cash usage and some banks are closing branches and/or making branches cashless. They're making it very difficult to use cash, but it's not banned.
