You see, rain has a lot of benefits, but it can also be quite frustrating and annoying. And in the same way, it can be very sweet, and you simply don’t want it to end. Yeah, there are moments when you want it to keep raining, and there are those when you will be praying to God to just get rid of all the clouds in the sky so the rain can stop. I know people like that.
I know people who look forward to the rainy season with dread and apprehension because they know that nothing but pain and suffering is in store for them. These are especially people who live in flood-prone areas, especially those who, after only a little rain, have to wade through rivers and seas just to get from one point to the other. There is always a risk of their houses getting flooded, going to sleep on dry land, and waking up with their bed floating in the middle of the Atlantic. That is enough to give anybody PTSD before the fact.
I also know people who have to go to work, regardless of how hot the sun is or how heavy the rain is. And whether they’re in flood-prone areas or not, the rain will always frustrate them, so they have to get out. Getting beaten is bad, but it gets worse because you have to navigate the treacherous roads and make sure that you don’t slip and fall. You also have to be careful so you don’t fall into a ditch that has been overflown with water. But then, it gets even worse! Because you’d have to deal with transport, because drivers will shoot fares sky high. So, in addition to every other thing you’re going through, you’d still have to pay through your nose to get to where you’re going.
But then, there are good days, when it rains, and you just love it. The only time you can love the rain is when it’s not making your life a wet, messy hell. And that can only be when you’re safe and snug inside your house. Then, no matter how heavy it falls, it’s none of your business because you don’t have to deal with it. So, you enjoy the cool weather in the comfort of your home, sip your warm tea, and enjoy the benefits of not having a leaky roof.
I had a good day today. It rained for hours on end; it only stopped about an hour or so ago. But I didn’t care, I had everything I needed for the day in the house. I loved how the rain darkened the clouds and how it came with lots of wind. It would have been a different story if I had to go out today, but I didn’t, so it was just perfect.
And it was a good way to spend my Friday. Doing my thing while the rest of the world was battered by heavy rain. Tomorrow, I’ll be hitting the road again. I pray for clear skies. If not, it will be a very bad day for me. I guess we’ll see.
