Nigdy specjalnie nie bałem się wizyt u stomatologa, ale po tej wczorajszej chyba będę musiał zmienić zdanie. To miała być czysta rutyna – zwykłe dokręcenie śruby w implancie. Z nieznanych mi przyczyn dentysta uznał jednak, że konieczne będzie znieczulenie. Od lat korzystam z usług tego samego lekarza, ale wczoraj wyjątkowo miał ogromny problem z prawidłowym wykonaniem zastrzyku. A kiedy w końcu mu się udało, całą lewą stronę twarzy miałem sparaliżowaną przez prawie pół dnia. Puściło dopiero po pięciu godzinach! Najgorsze w tym wszystkim jest to, że śrubkę i tak trzeba będzie wymienić na nową za kilka tygodni, bo nie miał odpowiedniej na stanie. Oby do tego czasu udało mi się wyprzeć z pamięci te traumatyczne doświadczenia.

[ENG] I’ve never really been afraid of dentist visits, but after yesterday’s ordeal, I might just change my mind. It was supposed to be a straightforward procedure—simply tightening a screw in an implant. For reasons unknown to me, local anesthesia was deemed necessary. I’ve been seeing this same dentist for years, but yesterday he had an unusually tough time administering the shot. And when he finally did, the left side of my face was practically paralyzed for nearly half the day. It only wore off after almost five hours! The worst part is that it turns out the screw will need to be replaced anyway in a few weeks because he didn't have the right one in stock. Hopefully, by then, I'll have managed to forget the memory of this visit.

Po południu, żeby opłukać stres, wybrałem się pokręcić trochę na rowerze – ponownie bez żadnego sztywnego planu. Zrobiłem kilka krótkich podjazdów i objechałem dookoła sztuczne wzniesienie Terril de l'Héribus – niezwykłą pamiątkę po górniczej przeszłości naszego regionu. Kiedyś, dawno temu, wdrapałem się na sam szczyt tej hałdy, ale miałem potem nielada kłopot ze zjazdem, bo tamtejsze ścieżki są nachylone pod wręcz absurdalnym kątem. Zdecydowanie bardziej wolę łatwiejsze, nawet dłuższe podjazdy niż takie strome ściany. Ostatecznie wyszło z tego bardzo przyjemne, spokojne kręcenie po okolicach Mons.

[ENG] In the afternoon, I went out for a casual bike ride to blow off some steam, again without any set plan. I tackled a few short climbs and circled around the Terril de l'Héribus slag heap—a unique reminder of the region’s mining heritage. Once, a long time ago, I scrambled all the way to the top, but I had a real nightmare coming back down because the trails up there are brutally steep. I definitely prefer easier, even longer climbs over those extremely steep drop-offs. All in all, it turned into a smooth, relaxed pedal through the countryside around Mons.
