Now that Steem is basically a walking dead platform (to me), I'm going to reveal something I've never admitted before: I don't like the name "Steem."
For one, the name rhymes with my gaming platform of choice, Steam. Also, it kinda sounds like an erotic site.
I've never had much luck convincing anyone to join Steem, aside from a few relatives that spent 5 minutes looking at steemit.com before never returning. I know an aspiring author who is quite talented, and I couldn't even sell them on joining, even if I gave them enough Steem to get started.
Why?
I blame it on the name. I think it sounds stupid, but I've always just accepted it like an awkward birthmark.
Now that Hive is coming this Friday 10am Eastern (tentatively), I can finally stop wondering if the name will turn people away. Hive is a brilliant name, and aptly describes the community. Do I wish they would change SBD to "Honey" instead of HBD? Sure, but there's always room for improvement.
So with that I bid Steem adieu. I never liked the name, and now I won't have to pretend to ever again.
Thanks everyone for dropping by, and see you at the Hive.
