With the new economic rules my auto voter is set at 5 minutes to vote 59 different Steemians. Going through page after page of former voting rules it was insane the amount of people on here that have peaced out over the years. After being on here for over 3 years there are very few of us who were what I called the second wave content creators who would actually get on video / have pictures of themselves.....etc.
The first wave are primarily ghost accounts of early investors. Those are primarily who still control the system and were actually able to profit from this system.
At this point there really isn't any content creators who could actually sustain themselves off creating on the STEEM platform without being in unbelievable sums of money. I have done the math and even if you have 1,000,000 Steem Power your vote is only worth $7.25. You are unlikely to be able to make $100 / day even if STEEM could stay at a stable price and not erode. With 8.59% yearly inflation and Steemit INC pounding the sell orders on a regular basis it doesn't seem to be a great proposition. It would cost $170,000 or so to get that much power and then it isn't very liquid and you know Steemit INC is repeatedly beating their own dead horse. Hmmmm
Attrition
The attrition situation has clearly never really been addressed and I find it funny how many people come here with relative Internet fame and get support and then leave but some of the people who have actually been here and continued to grind it out don't really get any continued support.
Just think if those of us who actually stayed here got support and instead of buying up large sums of other cryptos we bought STEEM? Wouldn't that be an interesting premise?
We have lost tons of people over the years but it is unlikely I'm leaving fully anytime soon.
There becomes a fine line between being "Captain Save A Project" and being a smart investor. If STEEM goes down to $0.01 I have done the math and I might be able to make a legitimate power play at that point and gain enough power to have a significant effect on the reward pool. Otherwise it doesn't seem to make sense to put more money into something where I don't get that much support. It looks like my game proposal probably isn't going to get funded at this point to be honest.
Next Steps
With the DTube funding coming up here toward the end of September I will likely commit a little STEEM to it. I don't know if it is going to work but I find what they are doing interesting so I will likely put a little towards it.
