We have had some strong winds over the last few days here in Southern California. I heard one report that the winds hit 85 miles per hour, which seems extreme and isn't nearly as strong as I think it has been, but it certainly has been windy.
We have been pulling out the kite and getting it up the sky (the natural thing to do in strong wind!). Yesterday, Jacob was flying and had the string all the way out - perhaps a couple hundred yards up. Well, the wind shifted and the kite nose dived out of nowhere. Since there was so much line out, the kite came down over the neighbors house, over a wash, and finally landed in the next neighborhood over. We had to cut the string and then get in the car to drive over to the next neighborhood- we found it in an old man's backyard! He was kind and thankfully we didn't break anything... perhaps we should limit the kites to the park!
