Sucks!
It's this expressions that speaks to me of just getting by, or letting life come rolling in. It's like this idea that you are some dinghy (which is a funny word) gettin tossed about on the ocean with whatever the weather pattern is for that day...as opposed to being some sweet battleship going to pone some doods...dominating whatever weather patterns are fronting for the day (pun intended)...I crack myself up
This weekend I turned the corner in my mind to start getting geared up for this up coming season (you can read about it in my last post) and have been thinking through why I am doing what I am doing. What's the end goal, why's the grind worth it. And everyone needs to answer that question for themselves. You can live on someone else's why for a short time, but eventually the lack of conviction for yourself leads to same ol' same ol'.
Most peoples in our culture have been mesmerized by this idea of the dollar bill. It enables us to do what we want, leverage power over others, and so we have built cultural convictions that most of us do not actually want. Yet there we are grinding away. Grinding away for some dollar bill that in reality is actually grinding us away. Literally the lack of conviction is allowing yourself to be erased from History...to live and die for the same ol' same ol' -
Our graves will literally read - heres some dood that died. And History goes on.
A few indicators that you are alive:
One of my favorite proverbs is 29:18 - it says that 'where there is no vision, people cast of restraint' In other words they allow themselves to be gradually devoured by the cultural vices.
Are you casting of restraint? Having you given yourself over to be eaten by the grind, to live for the weekend, to live with a sense of defeat?
Take a moment and define your why? Ask yourself why you are doing what you are doing? If you can't, refuse to be discouraged, rather allow it to take you on a process moving from being a dinghy to being a sweet action battleship. It takes time, but finding your why is the first step to a life worth living.
